The second phase of the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty beta test is now underway. We’re delighted to invite you back to the battlefield and hope that you will join us through July 19 for more terran, protoss, and zerg action.
As stated previously, all data from beta phase one has been reset. This includes characters, match history, ladder rankings, and achievements. Beta participants will therefore need to recreate their characters and, if joining matchmaking games, complete a new series of placement matches.
We thank you for all the feedback you provided during phase one and are excited to hear about more of your experiences in phase two. Welcome back to beta, and we’ll see you on Battle.net!

Starcraft II launches July 27
by Sc2Win on May.04, 2010, under News
Many-a-PC gamers’ summer plans were ruined this afternoon, when Blizzard Entertainment announced the long-awaited launch date for its real-time strategy game, Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty. The first installment in the three-part sequel will launch worldwide–China excepted–on July 27 for the PC and Mac and will retail for $60 in the US. The game will also be available in a deluxe $100 Collector’s Edition that will include a 176-page art book and a flash drive preloaded with the original Starcraft and its Brood War expansion.
Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty will focus on the human Terran campaign with a 29-mission single-player campaign. However, the multiplayer component will also let gamers wage interstellar real-time strategy warfare as the hivelike Zerg and technologically advanced Protoss factions. Eager gamers who preorder the RTS via GameStop will be able to join the ongoing Starcraft II beta. (Orders cannot be canceled once GameStop sends out the beta key.)
Starcraft II is the first new stand-alone game from Blizzard Entertainment since 2004′s World of Warcraft, which has dominated the subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing market. Wall Street analysts are bullish on the RTS’s potential sales, with Pacific Crest Securities’ Evan Wilson predicting the game will sell over 6 million copies. Wedbush’s Michael Pachter believes that combined with the launch of the latest WOW expansion, Cataclysm, Blizzard could see game sales of 12 million units this year.

StarCrack AI 7.0.0 Download
by Sc2Win on Mar.24, 2010, under Downloads, News
StarCrack AI
StarCrack AI has been in development since the first AI hack was on the scene. Initially, it was a pretty hacked up version of the Blizzard “very easy” AI that would actually do more than build two marines that glare at you. Since then it has evolved into one of the leading AIs for StarCraft 2.
Latest Version: 7.0.0
Changelog:
V 7.0:
- Reactive AI system. Balanced mix of proactive and reactive AI. The AI will scout out and respond to your army make up with mixed counters.
- Individual unit AI improvements, SCVs repairing, terran buildings lifting off to avoid damage, chrono boost used correctly… the list goes on.
- New attack AI, the AI will now attack much more regularly.
- Major modifications to the AIs economy.
- Totally new Protoss and Zerg.
- Many more changes and additions that I just can’t remember!

- Open up AIDifficulty.galaxy with notepad
(it’s the base StarCraft II folder)
- Read comments above lines before changing them
- If changing the values breaks your game, re-install the AI
Troubleshooting:
If when the game starts you get no buildings or anything, make sure you’ve extracted the ENTIRE .rar to your StarCraft II directory. Then use StarCrack Launcher rev43.

StarCraft II Beta: Leagues and Ladder FAQ
by Sc2Win on Mar.18, 2010, under News
StarCraft II Beta: Leagues and Ladder FAQ
1v1:
Q. How do your placement matches calculate which league you will be joining?
A. During your placement matches we match you against players from a wide variety of players and skill levels and we watch the results; whether you win or lose. From this, we are able to determine your ability and place you in a league that we believe to be appropriate for your level of play.Q. How do we move up in rank in your division? For example, from rank 51 to rank 44.
A. Simply by competing with other players and winning. However, it is important to remember that the individual matches themselves can vary in points awarded based on the rated difficulty of your opponent.
Example: Player A may have a win-loss ratio of 19-17 and be ranked in the Silver League at 35; while player B may have a win-loss ratio of 18-19, but because of the difficulty of some of those matches (say playing against Gold League players) he either received more points for a win or lost less for a loss.Q. How do players move down in rank on the ladder? For example, from rank 44 to rank 51.
A. This is done simply by losing matches. You are ranked relative to everyone in your division within your league. The amount of points you lose per match is comparable to how points are calculated when you win. If you lose to someone who is rated higher than you, you should lose less points then if you were to lose to someone who was rated lower than you.Q. What is the relevance of the Favored indicator and how does that effect the points distributed from winning or losing a match?
A. The Favored indicator helps give you an idea of whether the contender you’re pitted against is considered to be even with you, challenging to you, extremely challenging to you or not a challenge.
Currently there is a known bug where the score screen will display a level of you or your opponent being favored that’s incorrect. The loading screen however shows the correct level of ‘favoritism’.
You can use the level of ‘favoritism’ to gauge the number of points you are likely to gain or lose after the match depending on the result.Q. What are the league ranks?
A. Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum. In that order. There is also the practice league for player’s starting out and there may be other special leagues created in the future, such as an invite-only pro league.Q. How does a player move laterally from one division to an adjacent division in the same metallic league? (For Example, From Division 5 Silver League to Division 4 Silver League.)
A. In theory, they shouldn’t. There have been some select cases where this has happened, but this is a known issue in the current beta build and is being looked into.Q. Do the different numbered divisions indicate various levels of skill; is 4 a slightly tougher division than 5?
A. No. The divisions are sectioned off so that we have the appropriate amount of people in each.Q. How does a player move from one league to another? (For Example: from Silver league to Gold.)
A. After you’ve finished your initial placement, the system continues to review your performance and determines what league you should be placed in based on those reviews. The time and frequency of these reviews is kept hidden.Q. Are matches ever made between different leagues? (For Example: A Gold league player playing against a Silver league player in a rated match.)
A. Yes, you may be matched up against players from different leagues to test your skill. So be on your guard and play your best in every match.Q. What is the bonus pool and how are bonus points acquired?
A. The Bonus Pool (incorrectly called “Rested Points” in some parts of the UI) is an accumulation of points that every player receives whether they’re online and playing or not. They’re essentially used as a means to help give a player a catch-up boost if they haven’t played in a while. The pool does have a cap but it increases slowly until the end of a season.Q. How is the bonus pool used in competitive play?
A. When you achieve victory against another player, you are awarded a certain number of points. The Bonus Pool points will match the number of points you received for winning.
For example: If you were to have a Bonus Pool of 30 and you win a match that would normally give you 10 points, points will then be pulled from your Bonus Pool to match those 10 points and you’ll be awarded 20 points for winning that game. Your bonus pool will then sit at 20. (We’re aware of an issue your bonus pool not displaying properly in some parts of the UI).
2v2:Q. Are the gains and losses in the 2v2 game type higher than that in 1v1?
A. No, the gains and losses are the same as 1v1.Q. Are 2v2 ranks counted individually or in pairs? For example: If Player A plays with Player B and their team is ranked 2, is there another ranking for when Player A plays with Player C?
A. Yes. Every pair is ranked individually. Of course, only after finishing the 10 placement matches.Q. How are ratings calculated for 2v2? Is it an average of the two players or cumulative?
A. Each pairing of players for arranged 2v2 matches carries its own rating. If you participate in 2v2 random, you would have your own individual ranking. Matches that include 2v2 random players average the rating of the two players and compare it to their opponents rating.

Second Wave of Invites Within 2 Weeks
by Sc2Win on Feb.19, 2010, under News
Can we get some sort of word on those that attended the 08 Blizzcon and have entered their keys with no email yet? Whether we can expect to hear over the next couple hours, days, weeks, etc.?
I understand that Blizz wouldn’t want to overload their servers all at the beginning. I further understand that they’d want to select a subset of people to start. However, to not say anything that is getting VERY frustrating…
I wanted to provide an update for players that attended BlizzCon and redeemed their codes, but have yet to receive a beta key invite email. The first wave of invites have already been sent out and a majority of the invites were sent out to BlizzCon attendees. Unfortunately, due to the sheer number of BlizzCon attendees, we could not get everyone in with the first wave. Rest assured that if you did not get into the first wave, you will be included in a future wave, possibly within the next two weeks.
The timing of the next wave will be dependent upon the amount of players that are playing and the load capacity of the servers. Thank you for your understanding and patience through this process.

How to watch Starcraft 2 replays since patch 10?
StarCrack Allin1 is an automated tool that makes possible for you to play sc2 beta offline, without cd-keys etc, load match in skirmish battles, and watch replays.
Patch 10 Fully compatible! (includes starcrack (or AKA StarCrafty) A.I 7.0.3 patch 10 compatible!)
How to Access the Full Game Menu
Using an MPQ archiver (http://shadowflare.samods.org/), (http://www.zezula.net/mpq.html) you can access the full game menu by following the steps below:
-
Browse to the directory „C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II Beta”
-
Create a folder called „SWF” and another inside of it called „Authentication”.
-
Open „StarCraft II Beta\Battle.net\Battle.net.MPQ” with the MPQ archiver.
-
Extract „Battle.net\SWF\MainUI.gfx” to the same folder that the MPQ is in.
-
Close the MPQ archiver and rename „MainUI.gfx” to „authentication.gfx”.
-
Put „authentication.gfx” inside the SWF\Authentication folder and run „Starcraft II.exe”.
-
Note: The resulting file should be in „StarCraft II Beta\Battle.net\SWF\Authentication\authentication.gfx”.
Or just download the modified Battle.net directory here: *authentication.gfx (3723)
Where to put replay files
Download replay files: Starcraft 2 Replays
Replay locations changed in phase two – here are the new ones for Vista/XP:
For Vista/Win7 (I think):
C:\Users\REALIDREMOVED>:D\Documents\StarCraft II Beta\Replays\Multiplayer
For XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\My documents\StarCraft II Beta\Accounts\YourAccountHere (keep clicking, lots of sub folders) then create a Multiplayer Folder next to the Unsaved one.
Importing SC2 Cache Files
Download files here > http://www.sc2win.com/starcraft-2-downloads/starcraft-2-cache-files-update/
On Windows 7/Vista place them into the directory: C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Local\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\Cache
On Windows XP place them into C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\Cache
You can now play the replay files from the main menu.
